We’re in the thick of the holiday season, aren’t we? But that doesn’t mean you can’t think about how to grow your business in 2023 between things like:
Holiday decorations.
Holiday baking.
Holiday movies.
Shipping delays cause stress to our gift-giving routines.
Forgotten recipients that have us scrambling to find the perfect last-minute gift without making it obvious we left them off our list this year.
Sure. A lot is going on. And through it all, we’re supposed to keep our business running, keep delivering, and keep the momentum going. It’s exhausting. And because of that exhaustion, I’ve found two things that Roadpreneurs tend to lean into this time of year. They might surprise you.
So what do you do about this push and pull? To help unpack this here, I took a shower.
No, really. I took a shower.
That’s because, as I was writing, I started talking about the Infinite Monkey Theorem. As soon as I started it, I realized my thought process had gone off course, and that wasn’t the kind of unexpected writing I wanted to post. Instead of forcing a thought or fresh idea, I went to where I felt more creative — the shower. A pretty unexpected place for some thought leadership processing, isn’t it?
I’m not the only one who thinks well in the shower, either. Someone else I respect in the business world, Elizabeth Goddard, does too. And you know what? She’s bringing a whole lot of exciting sounds to the internet this week. Party sounds, to be more exact.
If you haven’t heard yet, Lizzy’s Christmas Party is well underway.
If you want to join in and get access to hundreds of digital products for FREE (altogether, these usually cost $25,000+) join here.
This is the third year for this party, and it’s already surpassed the last years. Each year, it gets bigger. Essentially, you’re signing up to receive hundreds of digital products. Yes, hundreds.
And can you imagine the flood of messages you’ll get in your inbox when you sign up? Messages with welcome notes, love letters, and, of course, access links!
She’s doing this, though, because she loves to shine a light on people doing cool things online. And she loves to give back to others by helping them snag those things for free.
It’s unexpected. It’s unique. And, it’s a bit noisy — and people eat that noise UP! Because it’s, above all else, crazy valuable.
How can you break the norms and cause a bit of a ruckus with your business?
I had a Voxer chat yesterday with a biz buddy about memberships and courses. She has a very successful membership and course and built it using an unexpected model. It’s the same model I use, and I have received some pushback from others who think they know what you “should” be doing.
Instead of having a course and then funneling those students into an alumni membership, I have both a course and a membership that are a) always open and b) available for you to choose your adventure.
Want the Roadpreneur frameworks and a year of coaching as you implement what you learn? My course, Roadpreneur School, is right for you.
Feel confident in your business framework but want simplicity in your ongoing marketing with someone telling you what to do each month? My membership, Roadpreneur Community, is right for you. (And PS, if you get the Premium Goody Bag in Lizzy’s Christmas Party, you’ll get 3 months inside Roadpreneur Community as part of your $100 purchase PLUS SO MUCH MORE!).
And guess what? Next year I’m taking a page from Lizzy’s playbook and starting a shop of digital products to simplify your work life from the road even more. One of those digital products is up for grabs now for FREE in Lizzy’s Christmas Party — Content Confetti with 52 weeks of content marketing prompts and social media amplifiers.
It’s not the typical customer journey, but we’re not the typical entrepreneurs.
We’ve chosen to live life differently. We choose to seek adventure differently. We’re showing up in this world on our terms.
And because we’re a little bit unique and unexpected, shouldn’t we help others by showing up in our party pants to deliver something exciting and crazy valuable?
There are so many ways to do that. The only way not to do that? By muting yourself.
How will you cause a ruckus in your business? It’s a good journal prompt for you as we head into a new year.
